Statewide precepting opportunities are available through our SEARCH Program. MPCA currently works with students and residents from the following list of primary care disciplines:
- Physicians
- Physician Assistants
- Nurse Practitioners
- Dentists
- Dental Hygienists
- Psychiatry/Mental Health
Precepting sites for our students and residents can expect the following support from Maine Primary Care Association.
- Timely receipt of appropriate credentials including proof of liability and updated immunization records.
- Coordinated scheduling for individual sites according to specific criteria numbers of students, disciplines and training programs.
- A precepting site honorarium upon completion of each rotation.
- Assistance with provider recruitment needs.
- Invitations to MPCA precepting workshops and access to other professional development materials.
While most precepting sites are Community Health Centers/FQHC’s, we do work with a variety of other practices that share a commitment to teaching and providing primary care access to their communities. We do not impose any clinical guidelines or expectations beyond those of the respective training program. We only ask that a basic evaluation of the overall placement be completed by the principal preceptor.
