Maine Primary Care Association offers a number of opportunities through our SEARCH Program (Student/Resident Experiences And Rotations in Community Health) for students and residents to experience medicine in an underserved primary care setting in Maine. Our host sites can be found throughout the state and offer placements for the following primary care disciplines:
- Physicians
- Physician Assistants
- Nurse Practitioners
- Dentists
- Dental Hygienists
- Psychiatry/Mental Health
Our placements provide students and residents the opportunity to:
- Train in culturally/socioeconomically diverse communities
- Work with patients and communities to help them reach beneficial health decisions
- Learn about culturally competent, community-responsive health care
- Gain skills in delivering primary health care services by working with mentors
